Clinical Quality Report

California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Taskforce

The California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Taskforce (CHART) was created to address the need for standardized, easy-to-understand information about healthcare quality and value. The Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California in San Francisco, the California Healthcare Foundation and other organizations lead this taskforce.

CHART is intended to become California’s hospital report card so that consumers know where to go to find the information they need to make appropriate healthcare choices on their own. Currently we have the opportunity to participate in voluntary, independent performance projects, including CHART.

The results can be viewed at CalHospitalCompare.org. The first online report card reflects data from the last six months of 2005 and the first three months of 2006. It is important to note that White Memorial’s data on the measure of heart attacks that is included in this first report was incomplete, consisting of data from only three months within the nine month measurement period.

We are pleased to compare ourselves against a group of participating hospitals that provide some of the best care in the nation. Benchmarking ourselves against these hospitals provides a valuable opportunity to identify additional opportunities for improving patient care and satisfaction.
